VAN BUREN WINS IN BOTTOM OF THE 9TH

VAN BUREN – Van Buren took a 5-2 lead into the seventh inning but needed a clutch run in the bottom of the ninth to outlast Riverdale, 6-5, in a BVC matchup on Wednesday.
Blake Stutzman drove in four runs with two hits. Will Rampe (2-1B) and Finn Martin knocked in runs as well as Van Buren (3-4) ended a three-game losing streak.
Canyn Schofield, the third of three Van Buren pitchers, earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of relief. Van Buren starter Brayden Gilts and relievers Matthew Puperi and Schofield gave up just three hits over nine innings.
Tate Weber went a gutsy eight innings for Riverdale, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out five. Reydon Bishop’s two singles accounted for two of the three hits by the Falcons (1-4, 0-2 BVC).
