Van Buren Girls Track advances to the OHSAA Regionals
The Ohio High School Athletic Association District Meet at Gibsonburg proved to be another strong showing for the Van Buren girls track and field program, as the Black Knights battled their way to a District Runner-Up finish against a talented field of competitors. Competing with determination across the track and field events, Van Buren showcased the depth, consistency, and toughness that has defined the program throughout the season.
From the opening field events through the final races of the evening, the Black Knights continued to pile up points with strong performances in both individual and relay competition. Van Buren athletes delivered under pressure, advancing competitors to the next round while also contributing valuable team points that helped secure the runner-up trophy.
The success at Gibsonburg reflected the balance of the Black Knights lineup. Veteran leadership, emerging young talent, and outstanding teamwork all played a role in the impressive finish. Whether it was sprint events, distance races, relays, or field events, Van Buren consistently found athletes stepping up in key moments throughout the meet.
The District Runner-Up finish is another major accomplishment for a Van Buren program that has continued to establish itself as one of the area’s top girls track and field teams. The athletes’ commitment, preparation, and competitive spirit were evident throughout the meet as they competed with confidence against some of the best teams in Northwest Ohio.
With several athletes now advancing beyond the district level, the Black Knights will look to carry that momentum into the regional meet. The Gibsonburg performance not only highlighted individual success, but also demonstrated the culture of teamwork and dedication that continues to drive Van Buren girls track and field forward.
